Next generation leaders from over 100 countries will be invited to SPIEF

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on 2-5 June will open its doors to the international network of next generation leaders and entrepreneurs Friends for Leadership (FFL).

The new realities of the post-crisis world order will be discussed by young opinion leaders from more than 100 countries, selected by the FFL on the basis of the UN75 Friends for SDGs Online Contest together with such partners as the Roscongress Foundation, the UN Information Center in Moscow, UN 75 Office, TV-BRICS and the Center for International Promotion Fund.

“In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a youth platform operates on the basis of SPIEF and other major Russian business fora. Participation of the young leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists and volunteers in the discussions around the most important topics of the Russian and international agenda ensures continuity in solving global problems and allows the new generation to exchange fresh views on common human problems and discuss innovative ways to solve them," noted Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.

Participants of the SPIEF International Youth Program will continue their work on promoting multilateral economic and humanitarian projects, which has been developed at the Roscongress Foundation venues since 2018. Many projects will help attract new, demanded ideas and technologies to Russia and other countries. In addition, in preparation for the Forum, it is also planned to hold a series of events with international partners at foreign venues using the resources and capabilities of the FFL, as well as the Roscongress and Rossotrudnichestvo, which acts as a partner in FFL's participation in the SPIEF as a part of the New Generation program.

“SPIEF will traditionally be a point of attraction for the new projects and ideas shaping development trends in the new realities. Many projects that joined us in 2020 represent their unique solutions to combat the COVID-19 pandemic at the local level: from mobilizing volunteers and supporting communities on the ground, to professional medical associations, modern medical equipment and projects for accelerated post-crisis recovery,” said Roman Chukov, Founding Member of Friends for Leadership, Adviser to the CEO of the Roscongress Foundation on Youth Policy.

The Friends for Leadership network for next generation leaders and entrepreneurs from over 60 countries was launched in 2018 by the joint efforts of the Center for International Promotion Fund and the Roscongress Foundation at the SPIEF. Now it brings together project teams from over 100 countries working to scale up their solutions across 22 thematic areas, including 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
