Representatives of Qatar and Russia to discuss investment cooperation

The Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (IPA Qatar) and the Roscongress Foundation will hold a joint virtual event on ‘QatarRussia Economic Partnership: Avenues of Growth for Russian Companies in Qatar’s Investment Ecosystem’ on 15 December 2020, 11:00–12:30 (Moscow/Doha Time). The event will be held in the run-up to Qatar’s participation in the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) as the guest country. Russia and Qatar seek to jointly boost bilateral cooperation with a focus on trade and investment front.

The event is organized with the support of Moscow Policy Group and in collaboration with Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA), Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), and the Qatar-Russia Coordination Centre (QRCC) – who are all participating in the upcoming SPIEF.

The purpose of the event is to advance the Qatari and Russian institutions’ dialogue and exchange in the lead up to the anticipated event and take a closer look at the unique platform that Qatar presents to international investors. The seminar will attempt to unfold the Qatar’s vast, sector-diverse opportunities where Russian enterprises can leverage Qatar’s business-friendly investment ecosystem and realize their growth and expansion plans in the region. The success journeys shared by participating Russian investors will further outline the country’s promising investment landscape and opportunities in various industries, while giving a glimpse of what’s possible when investing in Qatar.

The event will start with welcome remarks by H.E Fahad Mohammed Al-Attiyah, Ambassador of State of Qatar to the Russian Federation. H.E. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Board of the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar and Evgeny Primakov, Head of the Russian Federal Agency for International Development (Rossotrudnichestvo) will deliver their keynote remarks.

Expected attendees are representatives of Russian companies, SMEs and start-ups in the fields of manufacturing, technology, agriculture, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food processing, consumer products manufacturing, retail, logistics and transport, and aerospace and defence, among others.
