Roscongress Foundation and UNICEF signed a memorandum of understanding

Roscongress and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) will establish close cooperation and explore opportunities for more active collaboration through joint public, specialized and expert online and offline events on maternal and child health, education, social protection, youth policy, and statistics.

In autumn 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, and UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore, signed a landmark document – a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Russian Federation and UNICEF, which outlines plans for the development of UNICEF activities in Russia. UNICEF is interested in promoting an agenda on children, youth, innovation, health and motherhood, vaccination and child nutrition in Russia and its strategic partner countries.

“Children’s health, interests and development is among top priority areas for the Roscongress Foundation. We are happy to cooperate with UNICEF, and we are looking forward to joint projects and events. I am confident we can achieve great results together,” said Alexander Stuglev, CEO and Chairman of the Roscongress Foundation.

UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Afshan Khan, said that the partnership with Roscongress was an important element in UNICEF’s ongoing cooperation with the Russian Federation.

“Today’s MoU signing reaffirms the criticality of the partnership,” she said.  “From collaborating around maternal and child health, education and social protection, to advancing top-tier information technologies and platforms, our joint advocacy and exchanges will focus on the sustainable development and protection of children’s interests.”

“We look forward to creating a positive impact together in the lives of children both in the Region and beyond,” Ms. Khan added.

Roscongress Foundation and UNICEF Geneva office agreed to identify priority cooperation tracks. In particular, they discussed interaction in organizing thematic events and joint expert and analytical work. Thus, the partners will jointly develop an agenda for children and youth, including through making Generation without Borders initiative part of the youth sections of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the Eastern Economic Forum.
