SPIEF venue to host World Energy Congress

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak has chaired a meeting in Moscow to discuss preparations for the 25th World Energy Congress. The event will take place at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg on 24–27 October 2022.

The meeting’s participants included representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation in charge of preparations for the Congress, representatives of the Russian National Committee of the World Energy Council, and the Roscongress Foundation.

Alexander Novak announced that the Russian Federation, in its role as host country, has begun active preparations for the event: “The World Energy Congress is a landmark event for the global fuel and energy sector. It is now of utmost importance that the efforts of countries are united in achieving a balance of interests between both producers and consumers of energy resources. In view of this, the Congress can become a benchmark international platform for the formation of a consolidated position on key issues of development in the industry in order to ensure universal energy security.”

According to Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the World Energy Congress 2022 Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov, preparations for the Congress are being carried out in close coordination with the Secretariat of the World Energy Council.

“At the present moment, 25% of activities in the Plan for the Preparation and Delivery of the Congress have been completed, including drawing up the marketing and communications strategy and conditions for participation in the exhibition, launching the event website at worldenergyconggressrussia.org as well as a number of social media pages, and commencing preparations for the rollout of the invitation campaign,” Kobyakov announced.

Invitations to participate in the Congress will be sent out to heads of state, members of government, energy ministers, heads of international organizations, and company heads from across the fuel and energy sector.

Road to Congress 2022 is a series of online events being held as part of the promotional campaign for the Congress. The first conference, COVID-19: Accelerating a Better Energy Future for All, was held in June 2020 and received a great deal of positive feedback. The next event to be held jointly with the World Energy Council as part of the Road to Congress 2022 series will take place on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre on 2–5 June.
