WHO Leadership to Participate in SPIEF 2021 Business Programme

Confirmed participants of the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (2–5 June 2021) will include the following representatives of the World Health Organization: Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe at the World Health Organization, and Melita Vujnović, Head of WHO Office in the Russian Federation.    It is expected that Hans Kluge will make a speech as part of the SPIEF 2021 business programme.

“Healthcare has become an integral part and a separate social segment of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum business agenda. Starting from 2019, the Healthy Life Forum has offered themed events across all Roscongress platforms. Notably, 2020 was no exception: WHO experts regularly participated in online sessions initiated by the Foundation. Naturally, constant involvement of the World Health Organization leadership, as well as their participation in such large international events means an opportunity to present their expertise in fighting the pandemic and analyze best practices in global healthcare,” noted Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee.

According to latest forecasts of the World Health Organization, the coronavirus pandemic will stop in early 2022. Earlier, WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge announced that we were past the worst-case scenario and restrictions would be no longer needed by 2022. The SPIEF Organizing Committee will endeavour its best efforts to hold the Forum with account for all measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. These measures have been carefully developed in cooperation with Rospotrebnadzor in compliance with WHO requirements.
